Skin Care Functions & Education

The skin is the largest organ of our body and one of the 7 channels of elimination containing about 70% water, 25% protein and 2% lipids, the skin helps the main organs of elimination (liver, kidneys, intestines) get rid of waste buildup

There are 5 major functions of the skin

1. The skin acts as a barrier to infections.

2. The skin provides our sense of touch, the nerve endings of the skin provide the body with information about the outside world.

3. The skin regulates our temperature, it helps to maintain our core temperature so other organs can keep a constant state of physiological activity.

4. The skin excretes waste and excess salt from the body.

5. The skin synthesizes the use of Vitamin D in sunlight needed for absorption of calcium & phosphate.

From the above list it is obvious that the skin is a very important organ in our bodies and needs to be taken care of and maintained for optimal health. Using natural skin care products are going to help keep your skin functioning properly as well as looking healthy. Your skin is a major mode of chemical entry so using organic body care products will help to keep your skin healthy.
